Dengan penerbangan Jakarta-Kupang transit Surabaya, akhirnya sampailah saya di Bandara Eltari, Koe. Bandara di Ibukota propinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) ini cukup kecil, karena begitu pesawat landing, si pilot mesti balik kanan untuk kemudian menyusuri jalur yang sama dengan jalur pendaratan menuju anjungan penurunan penumpang. Begitu turun dari pesawat, ternyata tak seperti yang dikatakan kebanyakan orang bahwa kupang itu panas, memang panas sih tapi biasa seperti Jakarta. Mungkin karena sekarang sedang musin hujan, Kupang tampak hijau, kiri kanan jalan ditumbuhi aneka flora. Kata orang sini, sebenarnya Kupang sangat subur, tapi curah hujan cukup langka dan struktur tanah cukup berongga.
